Welcome to the Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome Trust (WHST) website. Established in 1994 by a dedicated group of parents, the Trust is a registered charity committed to supporting individuals affected by Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome and raising awareness about this rare genetic disorder.
The original Support Group was founded by the late Chris Hilder, a woman known for her tenacity and vision. With a compassionate heart, Chris aimed to provide support to all impacted by Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome, fostering understanding and awareness.
Today, this ethos continues to guide the Trust’s endeavors. Our website offers a wealth of information tailored to parents, family members, friends, and healthcare professionals. We invite you to start by exploring photos of our remarkable children, each embodying uniqueness and touching countless lives.

What is Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome?
Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome (WHS) is a rare genetic condition that occurs when a small part of chromosome 4 is missing (deleted). It is thought to affect 1 in 50,000 births.
The most common features associated with WHS are:
– learning difficulties
– seizures
– characteristic facial appearance
– delayed growth
– developmental delay
